Our most popular asked cake questions
-
Our wedding cakes are crafted to stay fresh for several days, so they can be collected 2-3 days before the wedding without any compromise in quality. Many of our couples tell us they’re still enjoying their cake up to a week after the wedding, provided it’s stored in a cool, dry place.
-
Our serving sizes vary depending on the size and design of the cake. For example, a 1 tier cake may serve between 10-50 guests, a 2 tier between 20-90 and a 3 tier cake can serve 80-110 guests.
For detailed serving guides and wedding cake pricing, feel free to reach out, and we’ll be happy to assist based on your specific needs.
-
For 100 guests, we recommend a three-tier cake, which should provide enough servings with a little extra to spare. Larger or more elaborate designs can be tailored to serve over 100 guests - please contact us for guidance on sizing.
-
For larger guest lists of around 150 people, a three-tier cake combined with additional cutting cakes can help ensure everyone is served. We can also advise on extra servings if needed to match your wedding size and style.
-
We provide a cutting guide with all our wedding cake orders to help you achieve clean, even slices. For the best results, we recommend slicing in a checkerboard pattern with 1-inch portions. This method not only maintains the structure of each tier but also ensures your guests receive consistent slices.
-
Yes, our wedding cake can be frozen! We often suggest saving a few slices to enjoy on special occasions, like anniversaries or date nights. Simply wrap the slices store them in an airtight container in the freezer to maintain their flavour and texture.
-
Our tiered wedding cakes are designed for safe transportation, with sturdy boxes and interior supports to keep each tier secure. For best results, place the cake box flat in the car boot and drive carefully to your venue. Avoid holding the cake on your lap or placing it on a car seat, as this can affect the stability of the tiers - potentially ending in tears for you.
-
Our diary opens 18 months in advance. We recommend securing your date as early as possible, particularly if your wedding is planned for the peak wedding months, including May, June, July August or September.
Ordering early makes sure we have plenty of time to discuss design, flavours, and any custom elements you'd like.
-
Absolutely! If you’re committed to having a Palms Bakery wedding cake but haven’t yet decided on the design, you can secure your date with a deposit. This allows you the flexibility to confirm the final cake details later as your wedding plans progress.

Yes, of course! If you see a cake in our Wedding Cake Ideas Gallery or from our selection of set designs that you love, we’re more than happy to recreate it or make adjustments to suit your exact preferences.
-
No problem! We understand that inspiration can strike at any time, and we want you to be completely happy with your choice. We’ll have a final design consultation a few weeks before your wedding to confirm any last-minute changes, as well as the delivery or collection details, so everything goes smoothly.

A cutting cake is an excellent addition if you want to offer extra servings or add a different flavour option for your guests. Although it’s not part of the main display, it’s handed directly to your catering team to slice and serve, either as an additional dessert or for guests to take home.
-
Yes, we offer a variety of vegan cakes for both weddings and celebrations to make sure everyone can enjoy a delicious slice. Our vegan options include unique flavours like chocolate orange, lemon, vanilla and chocolate along with other popular choices.

Our cakes are made in a bakery that handles common allergens, including nuts, gluten, eggs, soy and milk, so all items may contain traces of these ingredients. If you need detailed allergen or ingredient information, please reach out, and we’ll be happy to assist.
-
Currently, we’re unable to offer gluten-free cakes, as we do not have a separate space to handle gluten-free flour safely. While we prioritise quality and care, the risk of cross-contamination is too high in our shared bakery environment.
